Using the chat

How do I send a prompt?

Type into the box on the home page and press Enter, or tap the send button. Nothing else is required — no sign-up, no email, no verification step. The reply streams back word by word as the model produces it, so you can start reading before it has finished. Press Shift+Enter if you want a line break inside a message instead of sending it.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts on Seek-Chat at all, so there is nothing to create, sign in to, or lose the password for. Open the page and start typing.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no paid tier, no trial that expires, and no card required. We pay for the API usage. The fair-use limits below are how we keep that affordable.

Which model answers me?

Two are available from the model switcher, labeled as they are in the chat itself. Fast is the default and is quicker — good for rewriting, explaining, short code and everyday questions. Pro is slower but stronger on multi-step reasoning and harder programming problems. Switch between them at any time; the toggle returns to Fast when the page reloads.

Limits

How many messages can I send?

5 per minute, 30 per hour, and 100 per day. They apply per user and reset automatically — a minute later, an hour later, a day later. There is no way to raise them and no paid upgrade that removes them.

Why am I being asked to wait?

You have hit one of those three limits. The message tells you which. Nothing is broken and nothing is blocked permanently — wait for the window to reset and carry on. If you are seeing the limit after only a handful of messages, tell us at [email protected], because that is a bug rather than intended behavior.

How much does it remember in one conversation?

Up to the last 20 messages are sent along as context, so it follows a conversation without you repeating yourself. A question and its reply are two messages, so that is about ten exchanges. Beyond that the earliest messages drop off. Your messages are sent to DeepSeek to generate replies, and DeepSeek’s terms apply to that. If a long thread starts drifting, restating the key details usually fixes it faster than arguing with it.

Privacy and where your words go

What happens to what I type?

Your message, plus the recent turns of the conversation, goes from your browser to our server, and from our server to DeepSeek’s API using our credentials. DeepSeek generates the reply and we stream it back to you. We do not write your prompt or the reply into a database, and we keep no permanent transcript.

The important part: your text reaches DeepSeek, a third party we do not control. What DeepSeek does with API traffic is governed by DeepSeek’s terms, not ours, and we cannot delete anything on their side. The privacy policy spells this out in full.

Where is my chat history kept?

Not in your browser, and not by us. It is held in the memory of the tab you have open and is discarded when you close the tab, reload the page, or navigate away. Nothing is written to your browser’s storage and nothing is written to ours, so it does not follow you to another browser or device and there is nothing to restore. Ask us to recover a lost conversation and the honest answer will be that we cannot. Your messages are sent to DeepSeek to generate replies, and DeepSeek’s terms apply to that.

What should I never type in?

Passwords, API keys, card or bank details, government identity numbers, medical records, and anything covered by a confidentiality obligation to a client or employer. Treat the box as a public form. If you would not paste it into a stranger’s website, do not paste it here.

Do you train models on my prompts, or sell them?

No to both. We do not train anything, we do not sell prompts, and we do not build advertising profiles from them. What DeepSeek does with the API traffic it receives is a question for DeepSeek.

What this tool cannot do

Can it search the web or read a link I paste?

No. There is no live web access. Paste a URL and it will not open it — at best it will guess from the address, which is worse than useless. It also has no knowledge of recent events, so anything time-sensitive needs checking elsewhere.

Can I upload a file, an image or a PDF?

Not through this chat. It is text in, text out. To have a document analyzed, paste the relevant text directly into the message.

Can it generate images, audio or video?

No. Seek-Chat produces text only. It can describe an image or write a prompt for an image generator, but it cannot make one.

Can I get an API key or use this programmatically?

No. Seek-Chat is a browser tool with no public API, and automated access is not permitted under the terms. If you need programmatic access to the models, get your own credentials from DeepSeek’s developer platform.

How accurate is it?

Good enough to be genuinely useful, and not good enough to trust unchecked. It can be confidently wrong, invent sources and statistics that do not exist, and produce code that runs but is subtly incorrect. Verify anything that matters. It is also not a substitute for a doctor, lawyer or accountant — see the disclaimer.

Is Seek-Chat the official DeepSeek chat?

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Seek-Chat is an independent tool that connects to DeepSeek’s public API as a paying customer. For who builds and runs this site, see About. We cannot open, recover, close or refund a DeepSeek account, reset a DeepSeek password, issue an API key, or tell you why an official DeepSeek service is down. For any of that, go to DeepSeek directly.

Something is wrong

The chat will not load or stops mid-answer.

Reload the page first; most interruptions are a dropped connection. If it persists, try another browser or turn off extensions that block scripts. When the DeepSeek API is degraded the chat is degraded with it, and there is nothing to do but wait. If it is still failing, write to [email protected] with your browser, your device, and what you saw on screen.

How do I report a bad answer or a problem?

Email [email protected] or use the contact page. Include the prompt and the reply if you can. We read everything that arrives.
